GTA VI is still apparently on track to be one of the most expensive games going, not just in how much it cost to make but how much it’ll cost to buy.
Rockstar Games’ next open-world blockbuster could apparently be sold for a premium-price never seen for a game before, publishers think it’ll have an impact on the entire game industry.
Would you pay upwards of £90 for GTA VI?
Now before you start panicking Rockstar Games hasn’t said a word about the price of GTA VI, we won’t know until later this year when preorders go live for the game.

That said there is a lot of talk that the game will cost a staggering amount to buy given its size, and it seems like studios and fans alike are split down the middle when it comes to whether that’s acceptable or not.
I’m in the camp of it being unacceptable, I don’t think any base game should cost that amount of money, save it for special editions and collector’s editions where you get more bang for your buck.
CD Projekt Red’s co-CEO Michal Nowakowski has weighed-in on the argument though, as when they were recently asked about GTA VI potentially costing an absurd amount via a Q&A webcast, they said “there is likelihood for sure it's been indicated but it's pure speculation to be honest.
They went on to say “Our stance is that if the standard price changes for the market, it will work towards our benefit for sure. That's where we sit."

That is the main issue, as Rockstar Games probably can get away with charging more for its games as they’re almost always top-tier quality, but that doesn’t mean other studios can match it.
It’s an interesting discussion for sure, and one that’s going to get much louder when the price of GTA VI is actually revealed.
