GTA VI is already shaping up to be one of the biggest video games ever made - if not the biggest. It should come as little surprise, then, that it's already on track to be the most expensive video game of all time.
Back when GTA V released, it was estimated the total cost to make it from start to finish came in somewhere around the $265 million mark. This includes development costs as well as marketing and distribution, to be clear. But according to new reports, this number could just be a mere fraction of what GTA VI’s development is demanding.
Before we get into it, take a look at what GTA VI might look like with this GTA V Vice City mod.
GTA VI leaks suggest it's going to be a massive game filled with things to see and do, from its huge open world to the hundreds of side missions and activities to keep players occupied.

GTA YouTuber INTER recently speculated that GTA VI could end up costing around $1 billion when you include its marketing costs, although at this point I reckon Rockstar Games could probably just drop one release date trailer for the game and still have it be the most successful entertainment product of all time. They go to suggest the budget for the game’s development could be at least $250 million on its own.
A previous leak suggested the budget could actually be closer to $2 billion, but either way we're looking at the most expensive video game of all time. No wonder recent rumours put the the retail price of GTA VI at $150, though this is highly unlikely. Still, I expect a fair few people would be happy to pay that amount after all this time.
GTA VI is currently expected to arrive no later than March 2025, although even that isn't exactly a sure thing.
