GTA 6 leaked weather system already blowing fans away

Thunderstorms could even affect heists

With each week that passes, we are getting closer and closer to the release of Grand Theft Auto VI and, as a result, fans are getting ready by compiling some information we already have about the highly-anticipated game.

Thanks to a recent confirmation by Take-Two Interactive, we know that Grand Theft Auto VI is still on track for a Fall 2025 release which means we could see the Rockstar title in just over six months time.

It feels like we have waited forever but we are finally in the homestretch and to celebrate, one fan has taken to r/GTA6 to share some findings they have compiled about an interesting new feature coming to GTA VI.

Its adaptive weather system.

Although Grand Theft Auto titles in the past have included different types of weather, it would seem as though Rockstar is pushing the boundaries of gaming by introducing a unique and dynamic weather system to the streets of Vice City and beyond.

According to DeSnake1 on Reddit, a lot of instances point to this being the case.

“GTA 6 Will Feature a Fully Dynamic Weather System That Affects Gameplay in Real-Time,” their post reads.

“I've been digging through some Rockstar job listings and recent interviews, and I came across some interesting details that hint at a major weather overhaul in GTA 6.

What follows is four different points which hint at this overhaul, including a Rockstar job posting, an interview with its developers, a leaked screenshot, and in-game effect rumours.

The job posting discovered last year asks for a "Senior Environmental Systems Programmer" with experience in "dynamic weather simulation and real-time environmental interactions."

On top of that, a 2024 interview with Rockstar developers saw them mention the importance of "immersive environmental storytelling, where weather impacts both the world and player decisions."

These tidbits would fit in with a leaked screenshot which showed a mission briefing screen with warnings for “severe thunderstorms” and “heatwave conditions”.

Last but not least, there are rumours from other fans.

“Players speculate that extreme weather conditions, like hurricanes and tornadoes, could drastically change gameplay by altering traffic patterns, reducing visibility, and even damaging vehicles and buildings—taking the series' realism to a whole new level,” DeSnake1 explained.

Of course, this is all mere speculation but it would definitely be interesting to see the in-game weather affect how we play the game and it seems as though fans agree.

“I wouldn’t doubt we’re gonna see a complete overhaul of the weather system,” one user comments.

“I’m looking forward to some flash floods and some hurricanes disrupting areas in the game.

Imagine you’re in the middle of a robbery and flash flooding occurs and you can’t move because of the water. No matter what we all know it’s going to be awesome.”
