The Grand Theft Auto series is one of, if not the biggest property in the video game industry and fans are desperate for new information on its next entry.
Back in February 2022, Rockstar Games announced that it was working on GTA VI. Unfortunately, since that time, we’ve heard no further official details from its developer, which is worrying fans so much, that they fear death before the game is released.
Check out our gossip roundup video of GTA VI below!
Since that official announcement, we’ve had to make do with rumours, gossip and of course those early gameplay leaks which looked to be taken from a very early build of GTA VI. That being said in respect to the many rumours, I’m a believer in no smoke without fire, so aside from the gameplay leaks, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the other rumours prove to be true.

Some of those rumours claim that GTA VI will take us back to the Miami-inspired location of Vice City, home to the classic Grand Theft Auto game of 2002. What’s more, it is believed that it will feature two playable characters inspired by the infamous crime duo, Bonnie and Clyde, and we will be taking a trip to South America.
Still, even if those rumours are true, we should take them with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. That being said, now that GTA VI was announced some while ago, surely it’s about time Rockstar Games gave us some juicy new details such as a release date and gameplay trailer, right?
Perhaps with any other video game property, we’d likely know a lot more about the project by now. However, with a game that promises to be as huge and demanding as GTA VI, it’s never going to be a straightforward development and many bumps in the road will be encountered, which in turn could delay announcements of any kind.
Recently, rumours were making the rounds that GTA VI may have been in development for around ten years and it’s been claimed that the project may have been rebooted at least once. Well, according to a former developer, rumours of a reboot may have been confirmed.

According to the LinkedIn profile of Jon Young, a former developer at Rockstar Games, he claims to have worked on GTA VI from 2015 to 2018 as a lead video editor, seemingly confirming that the game was in development around two years after the release of GTA V on PS3 and Xbox 360, and four years prior to the official announcement of GTA VI.
In September 2022, Rockstar Games leaker of information Tez2 claimed that GTA VI was rebooted around the time of Red Dead Redemption 2’s launch in 2018. If true, this 2018 date falls in line with the LinkedIn profile of Jon Young who was working on the game up until 2018. Keeping in mind that Rockstar Games never actually confirmed GTA VI’s development until 2022. So it’s looking increasingly likely that GTA VI may have started development not for the first time at around Rockstar Games’ announcement last year.
Hopefully, Rockstar Games will put us all out of our misery soon by giving us some kind of new update on the development of GTA VI. After all, Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive has recently hinted that GTA VI could be released between 2024 to 2025.
It is believed that Grand Theft Auto VI will be released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, leaving last-gen consoles behind.
