Killer Bean, an upcoming third-person roguelike shooter, has been labelled as “competition” for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI… and while that might be pushing it, I am genuinely surprised at how incredible this game looks.

Those of you unfamiliar with the Killer Bean lore better buckle up, because this rabbit hole goes deep.

Killer Bean Forever is a 2008 animated movie that was almost solely produced and animated by a fella named Jeff Lew.

It’s taken on a bit of a cult status over the past decade, mostly as a result of the bizarre, out-of-context clips from the film making their rounds online.

A video game adaptation of the Killer Bean franchise was announced back in 2021, and we finally have a trailer.

Take a look at that trailer below.

So, obviously the release of Killer Bean isn’t actually going to make any kind of dent in GTA VI’s sales numbers.

However, I personally cannot wait to get my hands on it. Sure, I’ll play GTA VI first, but Killer Bean will be in the back of my mind the entire time.

How can you not think this game looks genuinely awesome?

He shoots a bullet off of another bullet. He Matrix slow-mo dives out of a car to kill two dudes. He does a flip, grabs a grenade from mid-air and then basketball dunks it into a crowd of people.

Hello, Geoff Keighley? I have a Game of the Year contender you better take a look at chief.

Killer Bean was set to come out at the end of last year, but its release was pushed back to an undefined date due to, in the words of its creator, “development problems, and lots of bugs”.

The game is set to release on PC whenever a date is finalised, with console ports planned later on down the line.

All I’m saying is… you better watch out, Rockstar, because Jeff Lew is cooking.
