Grand Theft Auto fans have been after more remasters for a while and it looks like they’re finally getting them, but at a cost.

This week we’re crossing our fingers for the third Grand Theft Auto VI trailer as it was previously said marketing for the game was going to pick up in May.

So far nothing has happened but Rockstar Games does love a cheeky surprise drop so for now we remain vigilant.

While GTA fans keep their eyes open though a worrying discovery has been made, more remasters might be coming.

GTA Remaster Studios Threatens To Remaster More Games

Back in 2021 GTA fans were subjected to one of the worst sets of remasters the gaming industry had ever seen.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was a collection of three “remastered” GTA games, those being; GTA III, GTA: San Andreas and GTA: Vice City.

Long story short they were dreadful and it made it all the more painful that the OG versions of the games aren’t available on modern platforms.

Grove Street Games was responsible for the collection and now the studio’s boss is teasing a new announcement due tomorrow. As you’d imagine GTA fans are trembling in their boots.

This mystery project was teased by Thomas Williamson, the Head of Grove Street Games, in a post on X reading: “Brace. Everything's about to shatter tomorrow.”

Gamers have already begun speculating on what this could be leading to but more GTA remasters feel obvious.

While it’d be nice to see Grand Theft Auto IV get the remaster treatment many feel it’s more likely that Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories get remasters instead.

Some are even joking that Grove Street Games’ next project should be a remaster of the GTA remasters.

Whatever it is we’ll find out tomorrow and if it is related to the GTA series in any way the timing couldn’t be more hilarious, especially with GTA VI’s third trailer looming.

GTA 6 Hype Begins Anew With Take-Two Interactive Teases

While Rockstar Games remains silent on the next GTA game, its publisher Take-Two have been very vocal.

Obviously the finer details haven’t been shared but the company continues to voice its support in Rockstar and has even addressed the supposed price and PC port.

Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick hasn’t confirmed the price of the game yet but he did address concerns it’d be one of the first $100 games.

He also recently spoke with Jason Schreier and confirmed the console versions of GTA VI are indeed a priority as that’s where the bulk of players and sales for GTA games comes from. That however doesn’t mean PC players are being forgotten as a PC port of GTA VI will be released sometime after launch.

Despite the series’ prestige the pressure is on for the next GTA game especially with it being the first truly new-gen title Rockstar Games has produced.
