Grand Theft Auto V shows no signs of neglect for a game that’s almost a decade old. In fact, fans are hailing the latest update released by Rockstar Games as ‘fantastic,’ praising the graphical improvements plus the addition of new missions and story updates.
The update is certainly welcomed seeing as we’re still quite some time away from GTA VI. Earlier this year, Rockstar was targeted by a major cyber attack that saw an hour’s worth of GTA VI development footage leaked online, alongside screenshots and source code. One takeaway is that GTA VI’s map appears to be huge, with some fans even complaining that it may be too big. The truth is, we’re likely years away from the title’s release so the latest GTA V update will serve us well in the meantime.
Take a look at this incredible mod which lets you play as The Boys’ Homelander in GTA V.
The 1.64 patch update is available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, bringing with it new missions and story options. The real star of the show though is the addition of ray-traced reflections which works on any and every reflective surface. This added detail is available in the 30fps Fidelity Mode and let me just say, a chrome paint job has never looked so good. Don’t just take my word for it, take a look below.
As reported by The Verge, players have been testing out the ray-traced reflections. It turns out that mirror reflections on vehicles only work when the player isn’t driving. That being said, if you fly a helicopter past a skyscraper, that will show up as a reflection which is a fun detail. I guess you can’t have it all.

I bet you’re interested in those new story missions too. The Los Santos Drug Wars has introduced several, including six new missions at The Freakshop plus source missions at Acid Lab. The update also includes eight new vehicles and hundreds of new cosmetics, according to the patch notes. I have a pretty good idea what GTA fans will be sinking their teeth into over the festive break.
