The internet is very excited for God of War Ragnarök, and for good reason. Hype levels were already through the roof as we inched closer to release, but things have been taken to the next level since the many perfect and near-perfect review scores got published.
At the time of writing, over on OpenCritic, Ragnarök has an average critic score of 94, and is recommended by 98% of critics, which makes it one of the site’s highest-rated games of all time. That’s no mean feat.
While you’re here, take a look at this incredibly bizarre Ragnarök ad, which sees Ben Stiller take on the role of Kratos leading a family support group, for some reason.
Just in case you’ve not already got your preorder in and are anxiously anticipating that dispatch confirmation email, as reported by Screen Rant, fans are currently going wild over a fluffy new character. Meet Ratatoskr - a talking squirrel with an eyepatch (and in Norse mythology, a messenger who delivers messages between the serpent Níðhöggr and the eagles sat atop Yggdrasil).

Perhaps the best thing about this guy is that he’s voiced by the fantastic SungWon Cho (AKA ProZD), who tweeted out the news: “Eyyy, looks like the first images of Ratatoskr are finally public (I voiced him, helped write his dialogue, and did the motion capture),” he wrote. “Looking forward to people finally getting to play God of War Ragnarok soon.”
“NO WAY THATS SO COOL!!! I can't wait to hear you in action!” replied @Mo3Fox. “That is f**king awesome I can't wait to hear you,” tweeted @ScottJund. “I was already hyped for release day but this just raised my excitement tenfold,” wrote @NSteffensen.
Here at GAMINGbible, Ewan Moore gave Kratos’ latest outing a 9/10 in his review, writing that “Ragnarök is a fantastically impressive sequel that delivers in every conceivable way”. He added: “This is a high-stakes, high-fantasy rollercoaster from start to finish, and an instant PlayStation classic.”
