Far Cry 7 isn’t exactly a well kept secret.
Ubisoft is yet to announce the game, but rumours are rife as to what the next instalment in the long-running franchise will have in store.
Fair to say that Far Cry is somewhat in a bit of a rut. It’s not in a terrible state but devs still haven’t quite managed to create something that matches the epic heights of Far Cry 3.

Could Far Cry 7 restore fans’ faith in the series? It’s possible. Perhaps that’s why Ubisoft is taking its sweet time behind the scenes.
The rumour mill claims that Far Cry 7 will shake up the formula by adding a strict time limit.
Essentially, it’s believed that players will have 72 in-game hours to ‘track down’ their family, who’ve presumably been taken by the game’s big bad.
Whether this is part of the main campaign or an added challenge purely to 100% the game is not yet known.

In fact, this tidbit is simply a rumour so I’d urge you to take it with a pinch of salt for now.
To add to this speculation, insiders have since claimed that they know where the game will be set.
ICYMI: Star Wars Outlaws launches very soon on 30 August. Take a look at the game in action below.
It’s believed that Far Cry 7 will be set in Korea which would definitely add some much-needed variety to the new instalment.

As reported by GameRant, an insider previously surfaced claiming to have legitimate information although as I said earlier, it’s worth taking such a claim with a pinch of salt.
The insider wrote that Far Cry 7 will be set on an island known as Kimsan, a location taken over by North Korean insurgents holding the protagonist’s family captive.
This would fit with the previously mentioned time-limit rumour.
The leaker added that the villain would be a leader known as Choi Sang-Pil.

Insider Gaming has further backed up the kidnapping plot line, adding that the player will be saving their family from the so-called Sons of Truth.
Of course, this doesn’t totally validate the rumour but it certainly adds to its credibility somewhat.
I suppose Far Cry 7’s reveal is only a matter of time but with the focus firmly on Assassin’s Creed Shadows for now, I wouldn’t expect to hear too much in the remainder of 2024.
