Fallout fans have found an open-world detail that’s blowing them away, proving Bethesda is the king of environmental storytelling when it wants to be.
Open-world games are a dime-a-dozen nowadays, but a truly good game uses its openness to tell the story. Show, don’t tell - that sort of thing.
Astro Bot launches on PlayStation 5 tomorrow! Will you be playing?
Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are prime examples of an open-world done right, but I don't think Fallout 4 gets the credit it deserves.

To see what I mean, check out this Reddit thread by LordChaos404, who shared a screenshot of the game where two skeletons can be found on a bench somewhere in Diamond City.
You see a lot of skeletons in Fallout games, usually whoever got caught in the blast when the bombs dropped, though this skeleton is labelled as Day Tripper, with the post saying, “Poor guy couldn't even buy one last fix.”
Fans were impressed with the small detail, and hopefully we’ll see a lot more in Fallout 5, whenever Bethesda plans to release it anyway.
“The amount of environmental storytelling in Fallout will always blow my mind. I always explore as much as I can to find stuff like this but it seems like I always see a post about something I missed!” said one player.

“I find it funny that the shirts, pants and even the hat survived but shoes and socks... nope... lol,” added another.
“The skellies in Fallout are so funny when you think about them realistically; as if everyone just powered down the moment the bombs dropped lmao. The nukes woulda ragdolled them,” said one more commenter.
If you haven’t played Fallout 4 in a while, or ever for that matter, it’s worth going back to as there have been several updates adding new content to the game.
