The next big Fallout project is a lot closer than we might think, according to two of the main driving forces behind its production.
As detailed by Inverse's Shannon Liao, following a Q&A meeting with Microsoft CEO Phil Spencer and the Fallout TV show's executive producer Jonathan Nolan at Paley International Summit in New York, the Amazon series second season has already begun filming and (by the sounds of things) is targeting a 2025 release date.
However, Spencer also shared some details regarding the next playable Fallout project and how it might tie into the Fallout TV show.

When addressing the lack of a Fallout video game release that could have tied into the show, Spencer stated “We didn't have a new game lined up for the launch… I actually think that gave us some creative liberty that wouldn't have had if we tried to coordinate production of two very different creative processes to land at the same time.”
This also lines up with comments made by Todd Howard, who noted back in June during an interview with MrMattyPlays that a Fallout game is on Bethesda’s mind but seemingly isn’t in active development (or at least wasn’t at that point in time).
"For other Fallout games in the future, you know, obviously I can’t talk about those right now,” Howard told Matty, “but I would say, sort of rushing through them, or we kind of need to get stuff out that is different than the work we’re doing in 76…we don’t feel like we need to rush any of that.”
At the very least, we should be thankful that we’ve got a great adaptation of the source material to tide us over until then because with how long The Elder Scrolls 6 is taking… I don’t think we’ll be seeing a new Fallout game for quite some time.
