While fans eagerly await the arrival of Fallout 5, there’s plenty of post-apocalyptic goodness to keep us busy, especially when we get into 2025.
It’s fair to say that Bethesda’s Fallout series is one of the most popular properties in the video game industry which is why its classic games remain popular to this day. What’s more, following the release of Amazon’s live-action series earlier this year, it welcomed a new generation of passionate fans to the franchise.

That being said, as fantastic as the Fallout live-action series is, let’s not forget what brought the series to the dance in the first place, the ever-popular video games.

In 2018, the post-apocalyptic RPG series ventured into the world of online multiplayer with Fallout 76.
While the concept of playing a Fallout game online with friends should have been a dream come true, Fallout 76 was plagued with tons of launch bugs and missing features. Fallout 76 looked to be dead on arrival but the developers at Bethesda worked tirelessly to get the multiplayer RPG back on track.
While not a perfect game, it seems that Fallout 76 is now pretty much the game Bethesda had envisioned, though for many, its repair was too little too late.
However, at least according to SteamDB, Fallout 76 has decent concurrent player numbers with a 24-hour peak of 10,000, at the time of writing, which isn't bad for a six-year-old game.

In October 2024, Bethesda hosted its first ever ‘Fallout Day’, and while updates on Fallout 5 were non-existent, loyal fans of Fallout 76 were shown to have a lot to look forward to.
It was revealed that we’ll be getting new challenging raids with “punishing encounters” that will require the utmost level of teamwork to succeed, as well as new legendary gear to acquire, C.A.M.P pets, player titles, and more arriving this year.
Yet, it was an update coming in 2025 that will likely excite most fans and that’s finally the option of playing as a radioactive Ghoul, a first for the Fallout series.
“Playing as a ghoul opens up many new playstyles with the addition of ghoul-specific Perk cards and a new Feral metre,” confirms Bethesda.

“You won't need to worry about hunger or thirst but remember, some people and factions just don't take kindly to ghouls.”
“I have finally given the game a spin and I have to say, I will probably end up buying it,” said Redditor ciannister.
“If you like the exploration aspect of Bethesda games, Fallout 76 is one of the best maps they've ever done. So much fun to just aimlessly wander around. Feels like classic Bethesda in that respect,” Background_Heron_483 replied.
No solid release date has been confirmed for the playable Ghouls but the update is expected to arrive sometime during early 2025.
