For 16 years, the Assassin’s Creed series has been one of publisher Ubisoft’s crown jewel properties.
There have been many releases from the series over those years and with just about each and every entry, we’re introduced to a new charismatic character to fall for. In the original game from 2007, Altair had a brooding charm, as did the somewhat misunderstood Connor from Assassin’s Creed III (don’t @ me).

The series has never been short of likeable characters with the likes of Edward Kenway, Kassandra, Eivor, the Frye twins and so many more. However, the star of today’s article is none other than the one and only Ezio Auditore da Firenze, who we fell for in Assassin’s Creed II, Brotherhood and Revelations. Granted, he was a lot more grumpy in Revelations due to his age and experience, but he was arguably more badass than ever.

Fans on Reddit have been discussing Ezio, hailing his era as ‘peak Assassin’s Creed’ and we’re inclined to agree. Well, while Ezio is my personal favourite character, on a different day I might say Edward Kenway.
“Ezio trilogy is the peak of Assassin's Creed,” said whitericeboi kicking off the discussion on the thread. “ACII, Brotherhood and Revelations is by far the best run Assassin’s Creed had. The story, the characters, and the gameplay were at its best for these three games. I think ACIII and ACIV were good too but they just never connected for me the same way the Ezio trilogy did.”
“Brotherhood was amazing. The multiplayer was absolutely chaotic and fun,” said ThreeSloth with whitericeboi responding: “Agreed. Brotherhood is probably my #1.”
“I feel Brotherhood and Black Flag were at their peak,” exclaimed TotallyNotYourDaddy. “I have to agree that the story in ACII was excellent for the period that it came out in.”

As for more recent entries in the series, fans are loving Assassin’s Creed Mirage which takes the franchise back to its 2007 roots. In our review of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, we said it’s “a glorious return to form for the series, and I had a joyous time playing through it. It’s great to see the series shift its focus back to stealth and a compelling narrative about the Order of Assassins, and I sincerely hope Ubisoft treat Mirage as the new baseline going forward, whilst still evolving the series further.”
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. As for the main man himself, Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection is out on all modern platforms.
