breaking news
Cinemagoers across the globe have been waiting with baited breath for their first glimpse at the highly-anticipated Dune: Part Two - and that first look has finally arrived.
If you haven’t yet seen Dune, I have just one demand for you: Please stop what you’re doing and go do so immediately. It is epic (quite literally in proportion), and yet Dune: Part Two promises to be a much larger beast. Based on the novel by Frank Herbet, Denis Villeneuve’s celebrated film adaptation has a star-studded cast, including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Javier Bardem and Jason Momoa amongst others. Dune: Part Two welcomes plenty of new familiar faces to the cast.
A video game is on the way. Take a look at Dune: Awakening below.
Those new familiar faces include Florence Pugh (who some fans are hoping to see in season two of The Last of Us), Austin Butler, Christopher Walken, and Lea Seydoux. Courtesy of Vanity Fair, we now have our first look at those stars in action. In a series of exclusive images, we see a blue-eyed Paul Atreides (Chalamet) - a result of the ‘spice’ absorbed whilst living in the deserts of Arrakis - and Pugh’s Princess Irulan wearing a beaded headpiece.
Irulan is the daughter of Walken’s Emperor Shaddam IV, the supreme ruler of the galaxy. Villeneuve told Vanity Fair, “When I met Florence, I was struck by her assurance, how grounded she is as a young woman, how direct, how unapologetic. She has something inherently royal about her. I will definitely believe that Florence could become, in the future, a prime minister.”
We also see the silhouette of Butler’s Harokonnen Prince Feyd-Rautha who Villeneuve described as “something that would be a cross between a psychotic, sociopath serial killer and Mick Jagger.” Dune: Part Two is due to release on 3 November 2023.
