Announced July 2021, people have been champing at the bit for the upcoming Dead Space remake. However, we have to wait a bit longer, as it's reportedly been delayed until 2023.
We saw the last entry, the underwhelming Dead Space 3, back in 2013 and now a new team are offering us a revival of the series, with help from the original team working as consultants. There's a lot being promised in this latest take. The studio wants to include content in the reboot which was formerly cut from the original game.

Senior producer Philippe Ducharme has claimed that the remake is learning from the mistakes of the last entry and will remove all microtransactions. In general the new team is rebuilding everything from scratch; giving the reboot a completely new look for the latest generation of consoles.
Advert
In anticipation of the upcoming release YouTuber Cycu1 has compiled together footage from the original Dead Space and the footage we've seen from the development of the reboot. While the development footage states loud and proud that it is "not representative of the final release" this is all we have to go on for now.
In the video, we can see the team has implemented a much higher and smoother framerate, more in line with modern gaming releases. The lighting is also much more dynamic, with better visual clarity through non-solid substances like fog or steam.
The animations have also been revamped and look a lot more natural now. The gameplay footage shows off shooting with both the Plasma Cutter and Plasma Rifle weapons. As this early development footage already looks vastly improved compared to the original, it's exciting to see what the team comes up with.
