Steam free horror download makes Dead Space look like a picnic

There is no escape

If you are a fan of the claustrophobic horror setting found within Dead Space, then you will love this free Steam download that is guaranteed to keep you awake at night.

Dead Space is a unique horror title in that it fully hammers home the feeling of being trapped and with no hope of escape against deadly monsters.

If you are unfamiliar with Dead Space, check out its official reveal trailer below!

However, this upcoming next-gen FPS action horror game has captured exactly that and better yet, it is free to try out right now.

Chasmal Fear is a horror title built entirely using Unreal Engine 5 and it is played through the perspective of a body camera.

Players will need to manage limited resources, make smart decisions which can influence gameplay, and survive the monsters who will continue to mutate in order to get stronger.

Luckily, if you do not want to go it alone, you can play with up to two players in co-op mode.

Developed by MystiveDev, Chasmal Fear puts players in a mysteriously empty sci-fi underwater facility where something has gone terribly wrong.

As a result, the odds are stacked against you and you must unlock hidden areas and solve puzzles in order to find out what happened onboard.

You can choose to fight or sneak by the mutated enemies but with the monsters adapting at every turn, you may need to rethink your strategies as the game progresses.

With limited ammo and resources, engaging is not always the best course of action and you will have to traverse the abandoned hallways with the help of your AR Interface and body cam.

“Some monsters will randomly start to mutate when killed into a stronger form. Do not be surprised when you encounter more dangerous foes in an area you thought you cleaned out.

Make sure to end them before the mutation starts,” the official Steam description reads.

With plenty of lore to get stuck into, fully randomised events to face, and your choices affecting gameplay, Chasmal Fear is definitely one to keep on your radar.

Chasmal Fear has not yet received a full release date but it is now free to try out on Steam.
