In one of the biggest surprise announcements so far this year, Capcom has announced that a new remaster of Dead Rising is on the way. Fantastic!
The original Dead Rising was released by Capcom in 2006 for the Xbox 360, before being ported to other platforms in the following years. Its most recent re-release was a basic Dead Rising remaster released for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016, it’s also worth mentioning that a new Dead Rising remaster or remake was speculated last year.
Check out the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster trailer below!
In Dead Rising, you play as photojournalist Frank West and as he’ll regularly let us and everyone else know, he’s also reported on wars. Inspired by George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, zombies have infested the town of Willamette and have invaded its huge shopping mall.

With Frank West being the go-getting journalist that he is, he quite literally jumps into Willamette Mall to get the scoop which eventually unravels into a mass government cover-up. In terms of gameplay, you have three in-game days to escape the shopping mall with the scoop and in the process, you’ll be rescuing human survivors and slaying hundreds of the undead with just about any weapon you can get your mitts on.
Dead Rising was also a very tough game and enemies such as the convicts in the Jeep will likely give you PTSD the moment you hear their theme song play. However, Dead Rising is an absolute blast and the announcement of this ‘Deluxe Remaster’ will be music to the ears of fans.
Well, the announcement of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will excite most fans but it seems that some are not happy with the design of its protagonist, Frank West. “Man, what have wars done to Frank,” said Twitter user coyote_knight, replying to the video posted on the official Dead Rising account with imkvrt adding “What they have done to poor Frank.”

What’s more, it seems that things aren't much better in the comments section of the teaser trailer uploaded to the Capcom Europe YouTube channel, with fans not only questioning the look of this updated Frank West but also his voice.
To be fair, his voice does sound slightly different but yet, a little familiar too. It certainly does not appear to be the same voice as Frank West in Dead Rising 4, but I could be wrong. That being said, there’s no denying the fact that no matter how this remaster looks and sounds, it’s likely going to be one of the most fun games we’ll play this year or next.
At this time, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster does not have a release date or confirmed platforms. All we know at this time is that we’ll learn more at Capcom Next streaming live on Monday, 1 July 2024.
