What a year 2023 was for Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt RED dropped several major updates, which when paired with the release of expansion Phantom Liberty, finally resulted in this IP reaching its full potential.
In fact, fans went as far as saying that they think it would’ve won Game of the Year had it been released in its current state. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely we’ll get any further updates anytime soon. CD Projekt RED devs are now shifting their focus over to the next instalment in The Witcher series. A Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is greenlit though, currently codenamed Project Orion. If you’ve seen all there is to see in Night City and you’re after a Cyberpunk 2077-esque fix, you may want to keep an eye on Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth.
Take a look at Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth in action below.
Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth was announced back in June of 2023. It is in development at Annapurna Interactive, making it the hugely successful publisher's first internally developed game. Set between the events of the original film and its sequel, Blade Runner 2049, the game is set to take us to a brand new point in the Blade Runner timeline. There’s also Blade Runner: Black Lotus which was set in 2032, so Labyrinth should follow on from this in some way.

The synopsis is short and sweet: “Blade Runner 2033 takes place after the events of the Blackout, the devastating terrorist attack that brought an end to Tyrell Corp and Replicant production.” It’s no surprise really though that Annapurna are holding their cards close to their chest. This is a very exciting project.
Steam does offer us the tease, “What does a Blade Runner do when there are no Replicants left to hunt?” Unfortunately, there’s no set release date for this game just yet but it’s one you’re going to want to follow as it progresses.
