In a soon-to-be-released Steam game you can put your survival skills to the test, in a world that screams The Last Of Us.
The Last Of Us is one of the biggest IPs in gaming at the moment, and a killer PlayStation exclusive that continues to grow in popularity.
If you haven't gotten around to trying The Last Of Us games by the way, you're missing out
What makes The Last Of Us so compelling is how unique of a survival story it is, as rather than zombies that can be dispatched easily the main threat is a fungal disease that ravaged just about the entire planet.

While not as extreme, Rooted on Steam offers a similar survival experience, but gives you more options of how you want to survive, much like another game called Valheim.
The game’s description reads: “In this solo and multiplayer survival game, explore an ancient overgrown world full of dangers. Salvage, build, craft, hunt,.. and try to survive alone or with your friends in an evolving and fascinating post-apocalyptic environment. Powered by Unreal Engine 5.”
Aside from the Unreal Engine visuals looking pretty good, Rooted offers an expansive open-world you can explore alone or with other players, and it’s entirely up to you what your objective will be.
With games like this my objective is usually to acquire as much loot and materials as I can and build myself an enormous base of operations, but if you’d rather go dungeon-crawling that’s perfectly fine too.

Unfortunately you can’t play it just yet, as there isn’t even a demo or playtest you can jump into at the time of writing.
Fear not though, as the Steam page reckons the game will launch sometime in the near future, so if you’re looking for a new survival game to try this one could be your best option.
