Survival games are big business right now. The industry seems to receive a new survival game every few weeks. The beauty of the genre is that is can be applied to many different types of adventure and always feel fresh.
In Forever Skies, there’s a heavy focus on crafting in a post-apocalyptic sci-fi wasteland - getting a Cyberpunk 2077 flair - in order to not only survive but also thrive. Players are urged to “return to Earth, ravaged by an ecological disaster. Fly, upgrade, and customize your mobile high-tech airship base. Scavenge resources to survive, face dangers on the surface, and hunt for viral pathogens to cure a mysterious illness.”
Survival games have been thriving since Minecraft came on the scene
This early-access game shows a lot of potential as it taps into the want to build a lavish airship, and it’s a refreshing change to the survival genre which usually keeps us grounded. Despite the brutalised landscapes, you find yourself in, Forever Skies still manages to be gorgeous, showing astonishing details between the rusting structures and the arid ground below.

It seems like a lonely time, one where exploration can uncover scientists and explorers long dead and wasted away. While much of your time will be spent crafting in the skies, there are moments when you can venture beneath the toxic atmosphere surrounding Earth to harvest precious materials.
With the game in early access, the developers are promising plenty of updates to come; fans are looking forward to four-player co-op, combat scenarios, airship gardening, and expansion. This comes with more story content, new locations, and lots of lore. Let’s not forget, that the reason the game is in early access is to tackle ongoing fixes and patches.
Hopefully the game reaches consoles one day and enjoys a full release soon as it looks like one not to be missed. There are a lot of survival game fans out there who will want to explore this world.
