PC players will soon be able to select a new playable race in Baldur’s Gate 3 thanks to one Dungeons & Dragons fan who’s been hard at work on a new mod.
Baldur’s Gate 3 scooped up the Game of the Year trophy at 2023’s The Game Awards, and deservedly so. It’s a fantastic game that continues to delight its players. In our review, we rated Baldur’s Gate 3 a perfect 10, writing, “I have gleefully joined the ranks of Baldur’s Gate 3’s evangelical, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. In a year groaning under the weight of so many exemplary games, it is frankly astounding to me how much taller Baldur’s Gate 3 looms over the rest of the pack. I’m not sure we’ll ever see anything quite like it again.”
Take a look at Baldur’s Gate 3 in action below.
Larian continues to support the game with new content. Just last month, a series of new smooches were added - timed nicely with Valentine’s Day - so that you can add a bit of variety to your romance ventures. Today though, I want to highlight an upcoming mod that will allow those who download it to create a Tabaxi character. As reported by ScreenRant, this mod is the work of Reddit user cobalt_owl.

The modder took to the site to announce the project. Now, anyone who’s played Dungeons & Dragons will know that this particular character race didn’t make it into Baldur’s Gate 3. However, that’ll soon change thanks to cobalt_owl who’s said that, so far, they’ve made a male “caracal-inspired skin”, adding that the mod will include race-specific abilities. The female version of the skin remains in development.
The OP advises that you can follow their progress over on Patreon. Already, there’s been a very positive reception to this. “Oh, this looks great. Very high quality,” wrote DreamingGod102, while n0753w added, “Few modders go to such lengths to make such detailed models. Well done.” Very nicely said. This is one project to keep an eye on.
