Fans of all things Assassin’s Creed can mark April 2024 on their calendars as this month is set to welcome Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Hidden Codex.
Despite starting off as a video game title in 2007, the Assassin’s Creed franchise has gone on to receive books, graphic novels, movie adaptations and not to mention the thirteen other main video game titles that followed. With at least five other instalments on the way (that we know about), Ubisoft is showing no signs of slowing down and it seems as though authors are following suit.

Thanks to a recent report by Game Informer, we now know that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Hidden Codex is set to be released on 30 April, 2024. The graphic novel from Dark Horse Books tells the story of Edward (not Kenway), a scribe and non-enthused monk who manages to escape from the clutches of Vikings. After winning back his freedom, Edward stumbles across his missing brother as well as documents which are “blackened by a language he innately understands."
Advert
"No one knows where these occult-looking symbols came from, but Edward has seen such writings before: in the workshop of an enigmatic wise man among the Vikings who is part of a secret order: Those Unseen," the press release reads. "An order that could offer answers to Edward, and guarantee his aspirations of freedom and knowledge. But with that knowledge, can he find and rescue his own brother before it's too late?"
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Hidden Codex will be set during the same Viking period as Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla but will bring a brand-new take to the story. Written by Mathieu Gabella and illustrated by Paolo Traisci, the graphic novel will be released in hardback to all major retailers on 30 April, 2024 at $19.99. It will later head to comic book stores on 1 May and it is also available to preorder now.
