If the latest rumour is to be believed, it appears as if Assassin’s Creed Codename Red’s release window has appeared online - and it’s much closer than we originally expected.
The next game to release is Assassin’s Creed Mirage which will launch on 12 October. The game features Valhalla’s Basim and is set in ninth century Baghdad. You’ll also be thrilled to know that it mercifully has the smallest AC map in years. The free-to-play Codename Jade recently put out a call for playtesters, plus there’s Assassin’s Creed Nexus which will mark the return of Ezio Auditore. In fact, there are supposedly 11 Assassin’s Creed games in development in total - potentially including a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag which would be very exciting indeed. Let’s hop back on over to Codename Red though.
Take a look at Assassin’s Creed Mirage below.
Codename Red was revealed at 2022’s Ubisoft Forward, but it was absent from this year’s showcase. Set in Feudal Japan, the game was described by Ubisoft as a “powerful shinobi fantasy”, adding that it would be a premium flagship full open-world instalment. While unconfirmed by Ubisoft, rumours further claim that it’ll feature two central protagonists: a samurai and a shinobi.
Advert
We’ve had no word on when the game might release but fan account AccessTheAnimus has seemingly shared a likely release window for the title. As reported by GameRant, AccessTheAnimus noticed that Ubisoft staffer Arisa Lagunzad had made a LinkedIn Post regarding looking for a Japanese partner to work on “the biggest blockbuster of 2024”. The post has since been edited to remove the 2024 release window. Oops.
Even following the edit, it still translates to say that Ubisoft are looking for a “sponsoring partner for this title Assassin’s Creed Codename Red for next year” (via GameRant), which gives just as much away. Feudal Japan is a location fans have been asking Ubisoft for for years, so I’d imagine this release window will go down well.
