It took many years of fans asking for Ubisoft to finally visit Japan in an Assassin’s Creed game, but we’re now there with two protagonists leading the fight.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the latest instalment in the long-running franchise, and we have loved our time with the game, as seen in Ewan’s 9/10 review.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is now Steam Deck Verified on day one
We all know the new adventure is heading to Xbox, PC, and PlayStation, but a large portion of the audience - one that’s constantly growing - is those with Steam Decks.

For a long while, we didn’t think that Assassin’s Creed Shadows would run on the Steam Deck, however, Ubisoft took to Twitter to announce the game is now Steam Deck Verified.
The game officially launches tomorrow, and will be the first Assassin’s Creed title to take advantage of Steam’s ecosystem, focusing on Steam achievements, badges, and trading cards.
Of course, the stunning game likely won’t look as gorgeous on the handheld PC, but the portability of play will be an intriguing and appealing prospect to many.
As the handheld market continues to grow - not just with the Nintendo Switch 2, but the numerous PC units coming to market - fans will want to take advantage of portable play.

Seeing Ubisoft push for a ‘Verified’ status is great, as fans can hopefully have confidence that the game will perform well, even with a visual drop.
I’m intrigued whether Assassin’s Creed Shadows will come to the new Nintendo handheld at launch, or soon after, if Ubisoft have been tinkering with this version.
Having the option to play across your gaming rig, and Steam Deck, with cloud saves, may entice many players.
I’m imagining playing through key scenes and furthering the story on my gaming PC, and using my Steam Deck to noodle about in the open-world, searching for collectibles while I watch TV at the same time.
