breaking news
It’s time. Just in case FromSoftware didn't give us enough video game to last a lifetime with Elden Ring last year, the Soulsborne devs just released the first gameplay trailer for Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon, and it looks spectacular.
According to a press release, the new action game is “full of mech action”, and will include “fast-paced battles, in-depth customisation, and thrilling boss fights”.
Take a look at the trailer for FromSoftware's latest game, Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon, right here.
As the name of the game suggests, Armored Core VI is set on the planet of Rubicon 3. Not to be confused with the brand of fruity beverages, Rubicon 3 has become home to a mysterious substance known as ‘Coral’ - an energy source which, half a century ago, caused a great catastrophe which engulfed the planet in flame, despite being expected to advance humanity’s technological capabilities. Back to present day, and Coral has surfaced again on the planet, and resistance groups and extra-terrestrial corporations alike are fighting to gain control over it. Your main protagonist is a mercenary who gets themselves caught up in this struggle.

Plot aside, if you're a person who enjoys looking at, battling against or fighting in mechs, this basically looks like the perfect game for you. In Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon, players will be able to pilot “highly mobile and highly customisable mechas” which can be used both in the air and on land - you’ll have to take into account the environment and changing combat distances if you want to master using them. As you can see in the trailer, this looks incredibly satisfying.
Perhaps best of all, the release date really isn’t that far away. Drum roll, please - Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon will release on 25 August, 2023. It’s so close, I can taste it. Tastes metallic.
