Summer Game Fest 2022 has given us a glimpse at a brand-new title set in the world of 20th Century Fox’s Alien(s) universe: Aliens: Dark Descent.
The mostly-cinematics trailer shows a marine posting what may well be his final audio log, as he recounts what’s gone down on Tantalus Base in the year 2198 - 19 years after the events of the movie Aliens, and 76 after the original Alien. (If that's wrong, pardon our maths, we're against the clock here.) Despite the game being set after LV-426 and all that, the marine narrating doesn’t seem to have any prior knowledge of the alien creatures his squad encounters.

Published by Focus Entertainment and developed by Paris-based Tindalos Interactive, Aliens: Dark Descent seems to be a top-down action game, possibly with a strong multiplayer emphasis. Its story is all new, but beyond what we see in this trailer, we know no further details. What’s certain: bugs, lots and lots of bugs. And we sure do hate bugs. The game is to be released in 2023 for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series consoles, and PC. No Switch? Game over, man, game over.
