‘Alien: Isolation’ Looks Scarier Than Ever In Unreal Engine 5 Remake Project

A group of creators teamed up to see what this horror classic would look like if it was remade in Unreal Engine 5.

Alien: Isolation is a staple horror title. Released in 2014, Creative Assembly’s terrifying masterpiece was released to rave reviews.

Loosely based on the original Alien film, Alien: Isolation follows engineer Amanda Ripley as she investigates the disappearance of her mother Ellen aboard the Sevastopol space station. Alien: Isolation is an extremely good looking game as it is even to this day, and the 2019 Nintendo Switch port added an extra level of polish. This new fan-made Unreal Engine 5 remake really takes things to new heights though.

Take a look at the original game for comparison. This trailer showcases Alien: Isolation on the Nintendo Switch.

The Unreal Engine 5 remake has been stitched together by YouTuber Enfant Terrible using assets from creators Ian Stewart, Guillermo Moreno, Hyungwoo Yoon, Ilhan Yilmaz, David Weinstock, and Joseph Oliver - and the end result is spine-tingling.

Did you know that Alien: Isolation was originally going to be a third person game? Creative Assembly changed their mind when they decided that first-person would offer a more intense experience and boy, they were right. That’s perfectly exemplified in this UE5 remake which really puts you on edge as you wander around the eerie space station.

The fan project instantly brought back memories of playing this game and I’d definitely forgotten just how tense it was. As scary as it is though, I’d love to see a sequel and fans took to the comment section of this fan-project to share that sentiment.

Matt Chew said, “As if I didn’t already want a sequel to this game enough. Now making it [in] Unreal engine 5 seems like it needs to happen even more,” while Morning Star wrote, “Alien: Isolation as a video game is already scary as it can be but with this, oh dear lord. I think I would spend my playtime in a locker and call it a day.” Morning Star has got a point. This game isn’t for the faint of heart.
