Now, over 200,000 fans of Netflix's The Witcher have signed a petition asking that Henry Cavill returns to the show and the writing team is replaced.
As I type this article, the total is continuing to rise, and once it reaches 300,000 signatures, it will become one of the top signed petitions on Change.org. "Henry Cavill is a fan like us, and we are tired of woke writers ruining IPs with ideological discourse," argued one. "People want truthful and accurate adaptations not egoistic storytelling disparate from source material," said another.
Check out the trailer for Blood Origin, a prequel to the original show and starring Michelle Yeoh, Lenny Henry and Jodie Turner-Smith, below!
Season three of the show will still see Cavill glowering and grunting at his compatriots on the Continent, however, Liam Hemsworth will take on the role for season four. "Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world," said the actor in a statement.

Hemsworth notwithstanding, the fans were angered when the revelation arose that the writers were allegedly not that keen on the books or games. It's plausible that this potential disdain led to changes like Eskel's transformation, Yennefer's betrayal and the introduction of the Voleth Meir which weren't present in The Last Wish, Blood of Elves and Time of Contempt. Fans' feelings have been enough to make major changes to other shows like Brooklyn 99 and bring a Community movie into being. We'll just have to see if this is enough for Netflix to turn its head.
