Whether you’re into trading cards or not, everyone knows they can be pretty valuable things which is why this latest discovery has left the internet totally baffled. Over $100,000 worth of Magic: The Gathering cards were recently discovered at a landfill site. Before you ask for the address of said landfill site, I hate to say that the cards are in an awful condition.
The discovery was made by Reddit user LATIN0. Taking to the site, they wrote, “Someone threw away six pallets of Magic: The Gathering cards at my local city landfill. Bad news.” The post quickly caught the attention of, well, thousands and thousands of people - mainly those hungry to go and nab every surviving card. It’s been quite the experience for the Reddit user who’s had to respond to the desperate masses.
After the discovery went viral, LATIN0 once again took to the site to confirm, “The cards are gone. I don't think anyone driving those dozers knew or saw what was inside them. The field supervisors don't care what's being thrown away as long as it's not chemicals.” They said they were at the site to throw away “trash in my trailer.” The user noted that you can’t actually take anything from the landfill so, yes, the cards are still out there somewhere.

“We're not allowed to take anything from the landfill,” the user continued. “I do regret not taking a box or two, again we're not allowed to [so] I didn't. I didn't know they were worth thousands of dollars [...] No new car for me. I'm not getting rich and I don't have any to sell. Please stop asking for boxes. I have no boxes. I saw [the] cards close to where I was dumping, looked for the source and I took a pic. I shared it on Reddit. That's it. Didn't know it was going to blow up.”
It sounds like it’s been quite an eventful couple of days. They warned people, “The cards are all under layers of trash, each day two to four layers are being added. Don't try to come and look for some. They are all damaged. My biggest concern is I know some of y'all figured out the location, don't call them. Don't come to get them. The same field supervisors will tell you the same thing if you come out there.” We’re going to have to just take this one as a major loss.
