Xbox Series X is getting a feature fans have been desperate for

We now get estimates of how much energy is being used through the console while it's on sleep mode.

Another flurry of Xbox Series X features will help you save even more on your energy bills as you'll soon be able to choose how you want the console to switch off when you end your gaming session for the day.

Presently, this is only available to Xbox Insiders and you can sign up for this by heading to the Xbox Store, searching for the "Xbox Insider Bundle" and installing this software. It is worth reading the small print though as previews have differing conditions for participation like the way that you use your console, your previous activities as an Xbox Insider, how long you've been in this group of gamers, the games in your library and a number of other factors.

Check out A Plague Tale: Requiem, which looks gobsmackingly gorgeous on the Xbox Series X, below!

Rolled out in the 15 October OS version, the team has "updated the Power options settings page with more information so you can better decide how you want your console to behave when you turn it off." Thanks to The Verge, a screenshot shows us what's new. Selecting "Power options" in "General" in the "Settings," there are two options for switching off the Xbox Series X. One is "Shut-down (energy saving)" which does what it says on the tin, however, allows for automatic updates of the console and games as well as supporting remote features when the console is on. The second option is "Sleep," which lets the user wake the console remotely and it starts up faster, but more energy is expended.

Additionally, we can see the estimated power use while the console is switched off or sleeping with a colour coded band underneath the figure of Watts used. This is bound to be very useful for those looking to tighten their belts or are intrigued by the amount of energy that the gizmo consumes in the grand scheme of things.
