It was recently announced that Henry Cavill will be stepping down from the role of Geralt in The Witcher series from season four onwards, and it’s safe to say that precisely no one is happy about it. However, some fans are now hoping that this could be due to change.
In yet another Cavill-related bombshell, it's been announced that the actor will not be reprising his role in the “initial stages” of the upcoming DCU slate, as the story “will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman's life”. This has come as a huge shock given that the guy made an appearance in the recently released Black Adam, and said at the time that he was “back as Superman”, and “what you saw in Black Adam is just a very small taste of things to come”.
Take a look at the trailer for Black Adam below.
Fans aren’t the only ones in shock, as Cavill also seems gutted: “After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life,” the actor wrote in a statement on Instagram. “The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that.”

As Comic Book reports, however, some fans are now wondering if his departure from the role of Superman could leave the actor free to return as Geralt in The Witcher.
“Netflix bring back Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia challenge I’m so serious,” Twitter user @wrathsemilia wrote following the latest announcement. “So since Henry Cavill is not returning as Superman… can we have him back as Geralt pleaaase?” tweeted @ayytrae. “Henry Cavill says he's no longer returning as Superman in DCEU... Could you come back and be Geralt of Rivia again plzzzz,” asked @Superpixel111.
It remains to be seen what’ll happen - it certainly seems unlikely that Liam Hemsworth would be booted from the role of Geralt before he even gets started.
