Yesterday was a very exciting day. After months of waiting and relying on fan-made mods to get an idea of what new-gen Witcher 3 could look like, CD Projekt Red went ahead and put us out of our misery, and revealed gameplay footage from the game’s upcoming new-gen update. And, simply put, it was worth the wait - the title looks absolutely beautiful with its improved visuals and performance.
Those aren’t the only changes that the update will make, though. A few notorious quest bugs will be fixed, new Netflix-themed content will be added, and there’ll even be a photo mode, which I for one am very excited about. On top of that, there’s also going to be a few new options for the UI and controls, as well as a new camera angle, which, as Destructoid reports, makes the game look sort of similar to God of War.
Take a look at the trailer for The Witcher 3’s new-gen update below.
This new camera angle offers a new over-the-shoulder look - it looks like the action will be more immersive than ever before as a result. It’s completely optional, mind you, so if you prefer the original settings, then you don’t have to change a thing. It might be a good way to spice things up though, especially if you’ve already played the game a lot. Or, if you’re just very used to that Kratos-esque camera at the minute, as I imagine many people will be.
In case you were unaware, the new-gen update is going to be totally free for those who already own the game, and will release on 14 December, so there’s really not long to wait. Nothing says ‘holiday season’ like ditching every game you own to play though The Witcher 3 again, right? Hey, it looks nicer this time, that’s our excuse.
