CD Projekt Red is seemingly not done with Geralt of Rivia’s adventures after recently announcing it will be adding a mod editor to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 2024.
It’s no secret that modders can be the backbone of any video game release by adding custom-made cosmetics, maps and even quests to established titles. Although this is the case even without official support from developers, CD Projekt Red are going one step further by working on the official mod editor. The editor will allow players to create their own custom content for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt based on the title’s pre-existing assets.

The announcement was made on Twitter via the official The Witcher account. "We're thrilled to announce that we're working on a mod editor for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt," the post read. "It will allow you to create your own experiences in the game by making something completely new or editing existing quests and content. We’re planning on releasing it for free in 2024."
Advert
Despite The Witcher 3 no longer receiving any new official content as CD Projekt Red works on a series of new projects, this is just another reminder that the studio respects its legion of fans. Adding an official mod editor will breathe new life into the eight-year-old title. However, it will only be available for PC.
With the next The Witcher game not scheduled until at least 2025 (likely beyond), it seems as though CD Projekt Red has its hands full. After a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel was also teased recently, it is set to be an exciting few years for the studio even if it means a few years of waiting.
In other The Witcher related news, Netflix recently announced an upcoming animated Witcher movie arriving to the streaming service. The movie will see Doug Cockle reprise his role as Geralt of Rivia alongside Anya Chalotra who played Yennefer in the Netflix live-action adaptation.
