Spoilers ahead for the comic run of The Boys, as well as potentially Season 5, you’ve been warned

Season 4 of The Boys wrapped up yesterday, and what a finale it was with several surprise twists we didn’t see coming.

However, fans of the comics are coming to the startling realisation that they already know how Season 5 is going to end, and they’re already horrified.

Take a look at Season 4 of The Boys below

Up until yesterday The Boys Season 4 was a little hit or miss with fans, with many saying the season seemed to focus primarily on how it can disturb or shock the viewer rather than tell a good story.

But this season’s finale was an emotional rollercoaster, and possibly one of the best finales of the show so far depending on who you ask.

The way things ended also seem to be tying into the comic run, in which Billy Butcher, in his never-ending crusade to kill all superheroes, goes rogue.

Not only does he succeed in killing an army of supes, including Homelander, he also takes out The Boys before having a final confrontation with Hughie atop the Empire State building.

The TV series has obviously gone in a slightly different direction, with Butcher controlled by a Compound V brain tumour that he’ll likely use to take a crack at Homelander and finally get what he’s always wanted.

Of course this could just be a bit of clever misdirection from the writers, especially since the comics didn’t have a living version of Soldier Boy that could burn out the Compound V in a superhero’s blood…just saying.

Only time will tell, and hopefully the Season 5 finale leans a bit further away from the comics, otherwise there’ll be a lot of viewers who already know how the show will end.
