Star Wars fans divided over young Dooku casting

That's a tough role to fill

Disney’s attitude to Star Wars has, over the years, evolved and developed into a mishmash of TV shows, films, along with books and comics, offering a wealth of stories expanding characters.

One such story, Dooku: Jedi Lost, began as an audio drama, and has since been adapted into a book. However, one Star Wars fan wants to see it as a TV show.

Count Dooku is a complex character who could get a new adaptation, but who would play the role?

In a Reddit thread, outlining the reasons they’d like to see it adapted for screen, they note it’s already in script form, hence ready to produce.

However, one major factor that would hold back this kind of project is finding an actor to play Count Dooku.

Dooku was played by Sir Christopher Lee, a legend in cinema - “Who’s got the balls to play young Dooku? That’s some big shoes to fill,” notes Redditor MPD1978.

Other fans would be eager to see an adaptation of the story, but nobody can agree on who would play such a role.

“Benedict Cumberbatch,” says Churchbushonk, putting forward another iconic British actor.

In reply to this, the actor Lee Pace is recommended by the thread’s original creator, saying he, “wouldn't be a bad option either, I don't think.”

“I submit Clive Owen,” said ShaneOfan.

While nobody can agree on which actor would suit the role of young Dooku, pretty much everyone wants a TV adaptation.

“It’s one of the best stories/novels to come out of Star Wars in the past few decades,” explains Yoda-T-Baggin.

Another Redditor opts for having another prequel show, saying, “Honestly I'd love to see anything set in the prequel era, but before the clone wars started, I'm starting to get tired of everything prequel related having the clone wars hanging over it in some way.

Perhaps it’s something Disney will attempt in the future, but I don’t envy whoever follows Lee’s performance as the villainous Count.
