The final episode of The Acolyte is almost upon us and yet, it feels as if the story is far from over.
Fair to say, The Acolyte is one of the most successful Star Wars projects to land in quite some time.
In transporting us to the High Republic era, The Acolyte has freed itself from a reliance on familiarity that seems to bog down so many other Star Wars shows.

Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett, as enjoyable as they were, felt like series purely created to cater to fan service, rather than having something interesting to say.
That’s certainly not the case in The Acolyte.
In our review, we said, “The Acolyte has truly got it all. From epic lightsaber duels to adorable droids and everything in between, these are the jigsaw pieces that make Star Wars what it is, and yet Headland places those pieces together in a way that feels both familiar and new. Offering excellently paced episodes and a thrilling story packed with twists, turns, and revelations, The Acolyte doesn’t disappoint.”
ICYMI: We sat down with The Acolyte’s Charlie Barnett, Dafne Keen, and Rebecca Henderson.
From this point on, I will be discussing spoilers.

With that aside, season one’s final episode has plenty of questions left to answer.
Where is Mother Koril? Was Vernestra indeed Qimir’s Jedi Master? Why is Sol so fixated on Osha and acquiring a Padawan? Who taught Qimir the ways of the Dark Side?
We all have theories, of course. A popular one suggests that Mother Koril may be pulling Qimir’s strings, which would explain how he knows so much about what happened on Brendok.
My theory is that the show’s title, The Acolyte, is perhaps referring to Sol’s desperate attempts to secure a Padawan, more so than Qimir’s.

I’m sure the final episode will deliver plenty of twists and turns but even then, there’s surely going to be several plot threads left over for a potential season two.
The Acolyte is yet to be renewed but it’s clearly something that fans want to see.
The hashtag #RenewTheAcolyte has been trending on Twitter, or X, for quite some time.
“This show single-handedly revived the new-gen Star Wars fandom that was murdered to death after 2019,” one viewer wrote.

“I need to know more about Qimir’s backstory, we need to see more of him,” said another.
“Manny-festing season two,” joked one fan, in reference to Qimir actor Manny Jacinto.
While an official renewal may not yet have landed, it’s still on the cards.
In an interview with Nerdist, showrunner Leslye Headland said, “We definitely aren’t going to leave you hanging. You do a show like this, you take a lot of risks, you don’t really save a lot of those types of questions for season two.”

But when pushed about the possibility of a second season, Headland added, “I have no idea. Well, not that I have no idea. I would say there are conversations. And I don’t know when that will happen. I don’t know when that decision will be made.”
Let’s hope it’s soon.
