Most of the time, we can overlook the various plot holes in Star Wars, but this one? It just makes no sense.
Star Wars is a vast universe of lore, and as such, sometimes it takes more than what we see on-screen to fill in any blanks we find.
Typically, the fandom can deal with this, like when they learnt that Palpatine was a different Sith lord all along.

But sometimes there’s one bit of lore that they can’t fathom.
With new lore incoming, we asked whether Star Wars Outlaws is any good. See our answer below
In a Reddit post (it’s never anywhere else), one user opened a discussion by declaring “the Sith Eternal Fleet makes no sense”.

They didn’t just leave it there, though, they then went into detail of why this was such a curious creative decision by Disney.
“I don't like how TROS contradicts Palpatine's intentions,” the OP remarked, “and makes it seem like he was an incompetent Emperor who sat on the largest fleet in history without thinking to actually use it.”
It wasn’t long before more fans entered the chat to share their opinions, most of which align with the OP’s.
“You are correct. It doesn't make any sense,” commented Pirate_Puma, “I get Star Wars has numerous plot holes, and there is so much trivia and lore that fills in those holes, but these just seem like blatantly obvious holes, not to mention missed opportunities.”

Questions were then raised over Palpatine’s abilities as a leader.
Not only did Star Wars quietly reveal how he killed Darth Plagueis in a rather hilarious way, but he also continuously utilised the same doomed tactic.
User Saw_Boss said as much by commenting, “The Dark Side of the force was probably face palming every time he did something else stupid. But since he's their guy, they give him incredible luck in getting to the top spot.”
We take many things in good faith when it comes to Star Wars, however, this Sith reveal is one we just can’t get behind.
