Pokémon fans better hold onto their seats, because a new animation has officially been confirmed slated for release in 2027.
Pokémon animation has had several iterations over the years. Of course, there’s the anime which has been running for over 1,300 episodes.
There are also the various films and mini-series that accompany that anime. It’s a franchise that is still going strong.

Another Pokémon project we're excited for is the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A!
Now, a new Pokémon animated project has been announced with a slated release date of 2027.
But the most exciting part of this announcement is the news of which animation studio Pokémon will be collaborating with for the project.

The Pokémon Company will be teaming up with legendary animation studio Aardman Animations for the next project. That’s the company behind Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit, and Shaun the Sheep.
There’s also a short trailer to go along with it, which you can see below. There isn't loads to go off here, but confirmation it's happening is enough I guess.

Details on the project are still kept under wraps for now, so we don’t even know if it’ll be a film or a series. The studio has emphasised its use of comedic storytelling will play an important role in crafting the project though.
“It’s a huge honour to be working with The Pokémon Company International,” says Sean Clarke, Managing Director of Aardman. “We feel sincerely privileged to be trusted with bringing their characters and world to life in a brand-new way.”
Aardman was founded in 1972, and has become known in the animation industry for its films and television shows that use claymation and stop motion techniques.
If you’ve seen any of the franchises created by Aardman, you’d know that Pokémon is a perfect project for the studio. With the wacky designs each Pokémon has, it’ll be fun to see how they’ll be represented in plasticine form.

It’s not the first time the company has worked with licensed property either.
The studio had previously developed an episode of Star Wars: Visions, as well as an Over The Garden Wall short to celebrate the series’ 10th anniversary.
