His role as Captain Jack Sparrow is as memorable as they come - and now it seems as though Johnny Depp may be returning for the sixth instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean.
You may think that this was obvious but due to accusations of domestic abuse from his ex Amber Heard back in 2022, Depp was axed by The Walt Disney Company, with it being reported that he would not be taking on any roles with them in future projects.

However, as with most things in Hollywood, this has seemingly been forgotten and a recent report reveals that Depp may be returning to his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the next Pirates of the Caribbean entry.

According to the report by Variety, Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is still in development and could see Depp return to the main role after winning his defamation case.
This is definitely good news for fans and despite Depp reportedly not being reached out to personally as of yet, Jerry Bruckheimer, the series producer, has shared that writers are still preparing for any potential scenario.
So much so, that two scripts for the sixth movie instalment are currently being worked on - one which includes Depp and the other which does not.
As it stands, “nothing has been ruled out” when it comes to the actor’s return.

However, with Depp famously saying that “nothing on this Earth” would make him work with Disney again during his 2022 trial, it remains to be seen if he will even want to return to the franchise.
With the five previous instalments in the Pirates of the Caribbean saga racking up a whopping $4.53 billion in earnings, it would make sense to see Depp’s much-loved Captain Jack Sparrow make a return.
However, with all of the scrutiny now attached to his name, will Disney be making the right decision?
It remains to be seen and with Pirates of the Caribbean 6 still in development, the filmmakers will have plenty of time to decide.
