X-Men fans hyped as MCU boss teases returning faces

X-Men fans hyped as MCU boss teases returning faces

Let the theorising commence

We’re still in the midst of The Multiverse Saga and while we don’t know the title of what’s coming next, it’s abundantly clear that it’ll heavily involve the X-Men.

After re-acquiring the rights for the X-Men following the purchase of 20th Century Fox, Disney and Marvel are keen to get started on adding famed mutants to the MCU.

In fact, that process is already well underway.

Wolverine and Gambit are amongst some of the examples that appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine, while Storm will assume the title of Thor in an upcoming episode of What if…?.

Let’s not forget that Kamala Khan - also known as Ms. Marvel - has also been confirmed to be a mutant as well as Namor.

Eventually, I’m sure we’ll get a fully-fledged X-Men film.

Details are thin on the ground as to what that film might look like but Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has just teased the reappearance of some familiar faces.

Take a look at the trailer for the third and final season of What If…? below.

In an interview with Deadline, Feige was talking about bringing together familiar characters.

“I think you will see that continue in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognise. Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men,” he said.

“Again, [it’s] one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back.”

I’m sure that’s got the cogs whirring for many.

“Legion!!!!!” wrote a hopeful MrDeeds117.

“Wooohebouttomakeanameforhimself,” added giantpunda - and I’m also with this user on wanting to see Gambit again.

“Would be cool if Marsden got to actually be Cyclops for once. Instead of whatever Fox did to the character,” added Hawkwise83.

Of course, Marvel is likely to hold its cards close to its chest for some time yet, but a little theorising never hurt anybody.

The future of the MCU feels bright.
