More and more details seem to be emerging for Spider-Man 4 and the direction that Sony and Marvel might take the film.
Over the past few weeks we’ve had little details drop here and there and the latest collection of rumours seems to have fans split down the middle.
Marvel will be back on the big screens soon and one of those films is the ensemble Thunderbolts*
A Reddit post has appeared that outlines some new details, including a return from Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, symbiotes, and a more cosmic storyline.

While some fans would be happy with this direction, some were hoping - me included - to see a more ‘street level’ story.
PhantomWhisey said, “They’ve set up the perfect setting for this Spider-Man to get his street level arc…” And their thought was finished off by Logiteck77 saying, “And they're about to squander it anyway.”
Another Redditor, davistobor, says, “I understand that Spider-Man is their heaviest hitter rn but you don’t need a grand multiverse escapade to get ppl in seats. We’ll take just good ol friendly neighborhood as well.”
This seems to be the sentiment from many. It would be great to see Marvel tackle the symbiote stories themselves, the company keeps insisting that their ideas be as huge as possible.

KayRay1994 hits the nail on the head, “I really hate that everything Spider-man has to be multiversal or a grand event now. Like holy s**t, give me an actual solo spidey movie with Peter, his usual supporting cast and a villain or two.”
Of course, the difficulty here is there are two companies planning the movies, with Marvel having to work with Sony on ideas.
It’s clear Sony loves the symbiotes as we’ve had three Venom films and fans want it, but it could be done without multiverse hopping.
The last word goes to hmd_ch who says, “I'm pretty sure the Spider-Man 5 will be the street-level movie that everyone wanted Spider-Man 4 to be, especially when you realize that the Multiverse Saga will be over by then.”
