It was never going to be easy to cast new actors to play the MCU’s X-Men.
If, like me, you remember the original 00s X-Men films, then you have a very specific image in mind when you think of these mutants.
Those films, while far from perfect, hold a special place in many fans’ hearts.

Speaking of Marvel, have you played Marvel Rivals yet?
Even if they don’t though, the casting choices surrounding the MCU X-Men reboot still has fans worried.
How could it not?

This is the chance for the X-Men to make a grand comeback – Marvel needs to get this right.
The latest casting rumour circulating is that Sadie Sink, best known for playing Max in Stranger Things, is in the running to play Jean Grey.
Although Sink is an excellent actor, the concern is that she’s too young for the part.
A younger X-Men cast has been used before, most notably in X-Men: First Class, and it didn’t go down well.

Personally, I quite enjoyed those films, but they were in stark contrast to what had gone before.
“Another X-Men movie with the young(er) cast?” Twitter account @popjunki3 remarked.
The age of Sink comes up again on Reddit, with mariusioannesp posting, “Wasn’t expecting them to go that young with MCU’s X-Men casting. Might make things awkward with whoever they cast as Wolverine.”

Of course, there are logical reasons for this choice, and there’s a simple way to avoid awkwardness.
Firstly, some believe that the MCU will take its time making these films, and thus a younger cast is better because they’re in it for the long haul.
Secondly, there’s no need to feature a love triangle in the reboot.
As vinnybawbaw mentioned, Sink will be in her “mid-twenties” when these films are likely released.

Though, they still believe the actor is a “weird” choice.
Others, however, think this is a “good choice” and hope to see Sink officially announced as Jean Grey in the near future.
We’re keen to learn more before we pass judgement.
