Marvel may have found its Storm for the live-action MCU and fans are hyped, to say the least.
Storm, a leading member of the X-Men, is one of the most popular and powerful Marvel superheroes of all time in comics, movies as well as animation, and on top of that, she’s an absolute badass.

The Storm character made an epic return in the third and final season of the Disney Plus series What If…? during episode seven, ‘What if… The Watcher Disappeared?'. What’s more, she was voiced by her original actor from the X-Men animated series, Alison Sealy-Smith, which was awesome.

As for live-action iterations of Storm, she was been played brilliantly by Halle Berry in most of the X-Men movies and there was a younger version in X-Men: Apocalypse, played by Alexandra Shipp.
However, both of those Storms were before Disney acquired the X-Men movie license from 20th Century Studios and as such, were not part of the MCU. We don’t know whether Halle Berry or Alexandra Shipp will reprise their roles in the MCU but at this stage, it’s looking unlikely, especially if recent rumours prove to be true.
In March 2024, DeWanda Wise, who played Kayla Watts in Jurassic World Dominion, expressed her desire to play the live-action version of Storm in the MCU. Now, as reported by CBM.com, she’s emerged as the fan-favourite to play the role.
“[Storm] is the only Marvel character I'm interested in... it's the only Marvel character I've ever been interested in,” said Wise. “I think we're going to single-handedly make that happen, and I thank you for that.”

It remains to be seen who’ll be cast as Storm in a live-action MCU movie and if DeWanda Wise is chosen, I think she’d be perfect for the role. We’ll be sure to update you if there are further developments in this story.
The next MCU movie to arrive is Captain America: Brave New World on 14 February 2024.
