It’s no secret that the X-Men are expected to play a large role in the Marvel Cinematic Univere’s Phase Seven - although that’s something that won’t kick off until after Avengers: Secret Wars.
We’re currently amidst Phase Five, which will conclude later this year follow the release of both Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*.
Phase Six is then due to bring us The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars, Blade, the untitled Spider-Man project, as well as Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel Zombies, Wonder Man, and Vision Quest.

That’ll draw The Multiverse Saga to a close.
At the present moment, we don’t know what the following saga will be called although we’re all suspecting it to be centred around the X-Men and mutants.
‘The Mutant Saga’ is definitely an idea that’s been thrown around by fans.
Admittedly, mutants have already started arriving in the MCU. Deadpool & Wolverine drafted plenty of familiar faces, including the likes of Gambit and X-23.

Let’s not forget that, canonically, the MCU’s Kamala Khan is also a mutant.
One character who I’m almost certain will be introduced as a priority is Storm, a key figure within the X-Men.
While the character hasn’t formally been cast, one actress has thrown her name into the hat - and Marvel fans are certainly on board with the idea.
ICYMI: Take a look at the trailer for Captain America: Brave New World below.
In an interview with the National Board of Review at their annual awards ceremony, Wicked star Cynthia Erivo expressed her interest in playing Storm.

“I really want to play Storm,” she said.
“I know it sounds frivolous but I don’t think we’ve uncovered how grand she is and all of the inner turmoil that she has. So I think there’s a world in which we could do something like that.”
Erivo most recently portrayed Elphaba in the aforementioned Wicked, with the actress also having starred in Widows, Harriet, Pinocchio, and Luther: The Fallen Sun.
“Cynthia Erivo as Storm? Now that’s a casting that could bring the thunder,” one fan wrote.

“Imagine the elegance and strength she’d bring to the role,” declared another.
Erivo is a huge star at the moment. With this interview now doing the rounds, I wouldn’t be surprised if it caught the attention of Marvel’s executives.
