Marvel's next-generation MCU Avengers lineup has fans seriously excited

Marvel's next-generation MCU Avengers lineup has fans seriously excited

The roster is filling out

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s The Multiverse Saga may not have mentioned the Young Avengers by name, but it’s clearly something that we’re gearing up for.

While Phase Four felt a tad like aimless wandering, Phase Five is really starting to come together.

The Multiverse Saga has rid itself of its dull villain, Kang, whilst banking on crowd-pleasing crossovers.

Deadpool & Wolverine is one such example, a film that’s dominated at the box office - becoming the 12th highest-grossing film of all-time at the US box office.

While the Avengers aren’t set to unite until 2026, next year will see the saga’s first true team-up in the form of Thunderbolts*, a film that’s set to bring together fan-favourites including Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, and John Walker.

It’s clear to see that beyond that, the Young Avengers will be teaming up, although we’re yet to discover in what capacity and for what reason.

But it’s no mere coincidence that the MCU has spent several of its most recent projects introducing young heroes who feature in the team’s line-up in the comic books.

Take a look at the aforementioned trailer for Thunderbolts* below.

So who’s likely to be on board?

Well, Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel and Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop/Hawkeye are perhaps the two most well-established characters so far.

Following that, it’s expected that we’ll see Katheryn Newton’s Cassie Lang again, alongside Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez.

Agatha All Along is in the midst of setting up Joe Locke’s Billy Maximoff/Wiccan, who’s presumably going to seek out his brother Tommy.

While I’m not sure that’ll happen within the lifespan of the show, there are rumours that it could be the subject of yet another spin-off.

There’s also Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams/Ironheart who was last seen in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with the character’s solo series having already been filmed.

We could even see the return of Kid Loki, who briefly featured during the Loki TV show, portrayed by Jack Veal.

It’s only a matter of time until we see these character’s brought together and fans are already excited at that prospect.

“If done correctly with a good plot and director!! It's going to be great,” wrote one social media user.

Let’s hope it does indeed deliver.
