Marvel just answered MCU post credits mystery that's been bugging us for years

Plans have changed

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has dramatically changed course after dropping Jonathan Majors from the role of Kang The Conqueror.

While plans have now pivoted to Robert Downey Jr returning as Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man, a lot of plot points and teases from the last few Marvel projects have seemingly been thrown to the wayside.

Take a look at the trailer for Captain America: Brave New World below.

One of these teases was shown in the post-credit scene of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, one of the best projects to come out of Phase 4, if you ask me.

At the end of the film, Shang-Chi is contacted by Bruce Banner and Captain Marvel in an attempt to figure out what his magical rings are and what purpose they could serve in the universe.

Even Captain Marvel who’s been around the cosmos a few times couldn’t explain what they were or where they’d come from, implying they were either from a separate universe entirely or possibly a different part of the timeline…

It was also said the rings were sending some kind of signal, but to where and who remained a mystery.

In hindsight, this was definitely a teaser that Kang was coming, as the events of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty were probably going to involve the Ten Rings in some way, shape, or form.

Of course, that little plot point has likely been dropped entirely now that Doctor Doom is our new multiversal threat, but the rings could still be of some importance depending on what the bad doctor has planned for the MCU.

Hopefully all our questions will be answered in the next Avengers film, Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled to release sometime in 2026, though an exact release date hasn’t been given yet.
