It’s fair to say that post Avengers: Endgame, the MCU has been on less of a high lately but that might be about to change in the coming months.
The Infinity Saga was a triumphant tale of good vs evil with Thanos as its villainous central point. What made the MCU’s Thanos such a compelling villain, is that like all good villains, he believes he’s doing the righteous thing and in a twisted way, he had logic.

However, when Avengers: Endgame concluded and we dawned into a new era of the MCU, it was always going to be a struggle when leaving on such a high. The Infinity Saga was a tough act to follow, even with such a rich cast of Marvel characters to support the new venture.

Now with Phase Five in full swing, new heroes need to step up to lead the charge with the likes of Sam Wilson and Carol Danvers. Whether either can live up to their predecessors, only time will tell.
With that in mind, as reported by The Direct, Marvel has released an interesting piece of mural artwork featuring Disney-owned properties (which means the Sony-owned Peter Parker isn't featured) and includes characters from the MCU and comic books.
It features characters such as Agatha Harkness, Scarlet Witch, Daredevil, Sam Wilson’s Captain America and perhaps most interestingly, Galacta, daughter of the Fantastic Four villain and the eater of worlds Galactus.
However, the focus of today’s story is on one of the leading members of the X-Men, Storm. This legendary character was played by Halle Berry in the then-owned 20th Century Fox X-Men movies which began in 2000, now owned by Disney.
At some point, Professor Charles Xavier’s band of mutant heroes will one day play a huge role in the MCU, as indicated by the 2024 movie, Deadpool and Wolverine. Out of all the main X-Men characters, Storm is the only one in this mural artwork.

This has led some to believe that Storm could be playing a major role in the MCU, perhaps, she might be its leader of the X-Men. At the time of writing, it’s hearsay, but it’s safe to assume that Halle Berry won't be reprising the role at this stage in her career.
In the 2016 movie, X-Men: Apocalypse, we were introduced to a new, younger Storm played by Alexandra Shipp and whatever you may or may not think about that movie, it’s fair to say that she played the role of Ororo Munroe very well.
Currently, in her early-to-mid 30s, Alexandra Shipp could be the perfect Storm that leads a new version of the X-Men in the MCU going forward. I can’t wait to see how this all plays out.
The next movie to arrive in the MCU is Captain America: Brave New World which arrives in cinemas on 14 February 2025.
