It’s pretty safe to say that Marvel has their money on the table, and they’ve gone all-in on Doctor Doom saving the MCU, even bringing back Robert Downey Jr. to play the villain.
This pivot was made after the controversy that saw Jonathan Majors stripped of his role as Kang, who was set to play the ‘big bad’ in the MCU, facing off against The Avengers.
Kang got the smackdown in the last Ant-Man film, and that was that
Once Majors was convicted of assault, Marvel had to move onto something else, leaving the character of Kang behind.

The last we saw of Kang, he was being obliterated in Ant-Man: Quantumania, and it seems that the character is now dead and gone.
Of course, the controversy surrounding the actor meant that Kang didn’t receive a proper ending like the last big bad, Thanos.
It’s not like Marvel was going to bring Majors back, and hand him another pay day when he was embroiled in legal drama.
The memes appeared over on Reddit, with fans posting comments like, “Somehow Kang died," riffing off the Star Wars meme of Palpatine somehow being alive.

We have to accept that Kang is gone, for now, though Marvel may decide to explore the story once enough years have passed and put some distance between the previous appearances, and casting a new actor.
As one Redditor puts it, “Loki season 2 did enough to loosely tie up the Kang story. It’s not perfect, but it’ll work.”
It’s an odd series of events, especially when Marvel put so much behind Kang being the guiding hand behind the multiverse saga, but the company didn’t want to recast Majors and continue.
So, instead, he was quietly killed off, and the TVA dealt with the threat, leaving another ‘big bad’ to step out from the shadows.

As another Reddit user notes, Marvel shouldn’t get ahead of themselves, saying, “there’s only disappointment because we’ve known about an Avengers title a few years too early. They should stop doing this.”
