Marvel fans torn over end of the MCU as we know it

Surely it can't end like this?

Marvel fans are wondering if the MCU is ever going to end, and if it were to end what would be the best way to do it?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it has a pretty long shelf-life, with new films and TV shows appearing every year.

A good example is Agatha All Along, a spin-off I don’t think any of us saw coming when we watched WandaVision for the first time

At the moment the current phase of the MCU is building towards Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, two films that are believed to be making big changes to the cinematic universe.

While it’s far too early to tell what the plan is, if there even is one, a popular theory is it'll reboot the franchise.

This will essentially “end” the MCU as we know it and allow for new stories with a new cast to take its place.

Fans on Reddit are mixed on the idea, and some have even wondered if the MCU will just straight-up end one day, when there are no more directions to take it in.

“I keep seeing posts about what direction the MCU should take after Secret Wars, but it seems like a lot of fans can't imagine the possibility that the MCU could simply end with a bang if Doomsday and Secret Wars are well-executed” said one fan.

Of course the main argument against this direction, as one fan pointed out, is the money.

“Disney shareholder meetings would be insane if they did that. ‘So, we decided to leave about $15 billion on the table because we're just...done. Dunno, just not feelin' it.’”

Another fan continued “The MCU ending isn’t really a possibility right now. It’s still insanely profitable and Disney won’t give that up.”

We’re also yet to see mutants properly established in the MCU, and if the next saga after Secret Wars is indeed the Mutant Saga, there are still many stories left to tell before the end.
