Marvel fans are predicting the events of Avengers: Secret Wars will “reboot” the MCU, leading to big changes in both the stories and the casting of characters.
The OG Avengers as we know them are long-gone, with the roster now consisting of new heroes like Sam Wilson’s Captain America, Shang-Chi, Kate Bishop and more.
Sam Wilson’s first big-screen outing as the star-spangled hero will be Captain America: Brave New World which you can see below.
While these new heroes are all well and good, fans are clearly missing what the MCU used to be, and following the events of Avengers: Secret Wars, we could be looking at a resurrection.

A Reddit thread by LawyerLanky1284 predicts the film will end with a rebooted Marvel Cinematic Universe that still follows the continuity but is drastically altered in some way, allowing for old characters to return but with new faces.
The user said, “For example, let's say post-Secret Wars, the X-Men and Fantastic Four will be integrated into the MCU's past, having always existed and having fought alongside the Avengers. This could lead to several ways that the classic characters could be brought back.”
It’d be a bold move by Marvel to bring back beloved characters and change the actors, and we’ve already seen a reluctance to move on from iconic actors like Robert Downey Jr, who’s now returning as Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man.
Of course, the multiverse could offer an alternative, as it’s implied Secret Wars will combine multiple universes to allow for long-awaited team-ups, like the Avengers fighting alongside the X-Men.

The ending of Avengers: Secret Wars could lead to multiple universal variants not having a universe to return to, instead seeking a home in the MCU universe instead.
Of course, only time will tell what’s on the cards, and we’ve got until 2027 to see it all unfold on the big-screen.
